Jim Coletta continues to promote new jobs and job expansion

Jim Coletta continues to take the lead advocating to his fellow county commissioners the benefits of rewarding companies that create new jobs and expand Collier County's overall economic progress.

Following Coletta's leadership, the county commission approved last week economic incentive funding for Animal Specialty Hospital (ASH) of Florida, LLC and Florida Specialties, LLC, both of whom have expanded to create new jobs.

Animal Specialty Hospital at 10130 Market Street will receive funding under the county’s Job Creation Investment Program.  As of Sept. 30, 2011, the company created 24 new jobs, two more than initially anticipated, with an average wage of more than $49,000 annually which have been audited and verified.   ASH is projected to receive $56,000 in job creation funds to be paid over a three-year period.

Florida Specialties of Immokalee was approved for funding under the Job Creation Investment Program and the Advanced Broadband Infrastructure Investment Program.  In its application, the company proposed to create 25 new jobs.  The company completed an expansion of its facility last year and created over 140 new positions companywide, consisting of full-time, part-time and seasonal workers exceeding their overall job creation goals.  Florida Specialties is projected to receive $75,000 in job creation and $25,000 in broadband funds to be paid over three years.

“The county commission sends a strong signal that we are committed to working with new and existing businesses to create jobs and grow the local economy,” Coletta explained.  “Florida Specialties and Animal Specialty Hospital are excellent and unique businesses that have chosen to invest in Collier County.  The performance-based incentives approved for each are a prudent use of tax dollars and I am encouraged by the economic activity and new jobs that will result.   We must continue to build upon these successes to support economic growth in our community."
